NBL Games in Launceston

Watching the JackJumpers in northern Tasmania

A Launceston game means the Silverdome, rather than a trip to the JackJumpers' southern arena. Select the actual fixture before booking travel: the Tasmania team name is shared across its home programme, while the cities and venues are different. This page keeps the northern fixtures together.

The Silverdome setting

The Silverdome's official description places it in the Kate Reid Reserve and identifies it as the JackJumpers' northern home venue. The building is multipurpose, with a long cycling role as well as basketball. Follow the specific NBL event for the seating arrangement; a venue's general maximum capacity does not describe every sporting setup.

Use the venue's current event and contact information for access, parking and any assistance you need. An arena map for a different activity may not match the basketball configuration. For a family or group, select seats through the official event seller and check any age or concession conditions there.

Keeping Hobart and Launceston separate

The Hobart page covers MyState Bank Arena games. They are part of the same team's season but a separate journey. A Launceston calendar is useful if the Silverdome is your local outing; a JackJumpers calendar adds the team's other home and away games.

Launceston's championship story began before the Silverdome

The NBL's retrospective on Tasmania's first title tells the story of Launceston Casino City defeating the Nunawading Spectres in the 1981 Grand Final. It gives northern Tasmania a distinct championship chapter, decades before the JackJumpers joined the league.

Two dates that should not be joined into one story

The Silverdome opened in 1985, according to the venue's history. Casino City's 1981 championship therefore predates this arena. It would be wrong to picture that title as a Silverdome home triumph simply because the modern NBL games in Launceston use the building. The city, the club and the venue each have their own timeline.

For supporters, those separate chapters make the present games richer. Launceston can celebrate its earlier champions while backing a modern club representing the whole state. The Casino City name in a historic article is not an extra team on the current ladder, and a JackJumpers result should not be filed under that older club.

When browsing the fixtures, the completed view links your visit back to its result. Historical reading below explains the city connection; it does not replace the current match details. That combination keeps both the practical venue choice and northern Tasmania's basketball identity clear.
