      Confirmed Line-ups Explained

An NBL starting five is the group of players named to begin a particular game. It is different from a club’s full roster, the players expected to feature in its rotation or a predicted line-up based on recent results. This page displays confirmed starters from the available match information. It does not fill empty positions with last game’s starters or assume the five players with the highest scoring averages will start together.

Five confirmed names for each team

Each match has separate home and away cards. A complete confirmed starting five requires five identified starters for that team. If only part of the information is available, the card explains that the full line-up is still awaiting confirmation. This is more useful than presenting an incomplete list as final. A name in a player roster is not enough to qualify someone as a starter for today’s game.

      What a blank line-up means

A card awaiting confirmation means the starting information is not available here yet. It does not mean the club has failed to name a team, that the game has been cancelled or that every player is unavailable. Official announcements can arrive close to tip-off. Use the game-centre link for late team news, and keep the information time in mind when comparing this page with a television broadcast or a club announcement.

      Finding Today’s NBL Games

Your selected time zone sets the date

Today’s fixtures follow the time zone selected at the top of the page. This matters for fans moving between Australian states or following the New Zealand Breakers. A late game can fall on a different local date for another viewer. The displayed tip-off time and today’s selection use the same zone, so there is no need to mentally convert one while leaving the other unchanged. Check both before assuming a fixture is missing.

Use the team filter for a shorter list

Choose a club to see only its games on the selected day. If nothing appears, reset the team filter and check the full day’s programme. There may simply be no NBL game for that club today. The tomorrow page and weekly fixture help you find its next appearance. A no-games message is different from a game card whose starting five is awaiting confirmation.

Read the Team Cards Before the Box Score

Names, jersey numbers and positions help you identify the players when that information is available. Position labels are descriptive, not a requirement to place one player into each of five rigid categories. Teams can use different combinations, and some players cover more than one role. A missing jersey number or position is left blank instead of being guessed. Team logos and home–away labels help separate the two sides at a glance.

After a game finishes, its card can show the players who actually started. Bench players may have contributed heavily or played more minutes than a starter, but they belong in the full box score rather than the starting five. Follow the match-details link to compare every player’s points, rebounds, assists and minutes. Starting status records the beginning of the game; it does not describe every substitution or the line-up used at the final siren.

      Check Injuries Before Tip-off

Use the NBL injury report alongside the line-up cards. An expected return is not a guarantee of selection, and appearing in a confirmed starting five does not tell you whether a player will have unrestricted minutes. Read official team news for that context. The league’s injury update and the match’s official game centre answer different parts of the availability question.

For watching arrangements, open the Australian NBL TV schedule. Line-up confirmation does not establish which service carries the game, whether a subscription is needed or whether a stream is available in your region. The match page brings together the fixture, coverage and team information so you can check each detail before tip-off.

      NBL Line-ups FAQs

      Are these predicted line-ups?

No. This page uses explicit starting information. It does not predict starters from recent appearances, scoring leaders, injury absences or a team’s usual rotation.

Why are only some starters shown?

The available information may be incomplete. A partial card remains labelled as awaiting full confirmation until five starters for that team are available. Missing names are not filled by inference.

Can a bench player lead the team in minutes?

Yes. Starting and total playing time are separate statistics. Open the completed game’s box score to see minutes and contributions from everyone who took the court.

Where should I look for a last-minute change?

Use the official game-centre link on the match card and the club’s latest announcement. This page is not a live team-sheet service, so a very recent change may not yet appear.
