How to Watch NBL in Australia: TV & Streaming

By NBL Fixtures · Reviewed 27 October 2026

Start With the Game You Want to Watch

For an Australian fan, the quickest route is to find the game first and then check its listed viewing options. The NBL27 arrangements include ESPN coverage through supported subscriptions and free Saturday coverage through Nine and 9Now. That season-level summary helps you choose a service, but the individual fixture tells you which channel or stream is attached to the game you actually want. Use the TV schedule to browse the coming week.

The broadcaster and your subscription are different things

ESPN supplies the basketball coverage; a service or television package gives you access to it. The official NBL27 viewing guide lists Disney+, Kayo, Foxtel, Foxtel Now and Fetch among the Australian access options. Check the provider's current package and supported devices before choosing a subscription. The presence of a service name here does not mean every package sold by that provider includes the same channels or features.

Disney's NBL27 season guide describes live and on-demand ESPN access. If you already have a service, check your account before buying another one. For a television screen, also check whether your device can run the service or receive its channel. Account access, device support and the actual sports listing are more useful checks than assuming a familiar brand name alone guarantees the game.

Finding Free NBL Coverage

Free television and free streaming

Free-to-air television means receiving a broadcast channel. Free streaming means opening an internet service, which can require an account and a supported device. A game on 9Now does not, by itself, establish that the same game is on a particular television channel. The free-games list above uses confirmed broadcaster information and keeps these types separate. Read the individual game listing when choosing between your television and a streaming app.

The NBL27 guide identifies Saturday coverage through Nine. This page does not create a free viewing label simply because a fixture falls on a Saturday. It lists games with an explicit free option attached. If the next-seven-day section is empty, open the full free-coverage page or check the official fixture. An empty short list is not a statement that there will be no further free basketball this season.

Australian availability matters

This guide addresses viewers in Australia. A club being based in New Zealand does not extend Australian service availability across the Tasman. International viewers should use the league's country-specific guidance. Likewise, a highlights video available on a public video platform does not establish that a full live broadcast is available in your country. Use official links for the coverage appropriate to your location.

Tip-off, Programme Times and Replays

The fixture time is the scheduled tip-off. Television coverage can begin earlier with build-up, or the provider may organise several games inside a longer programme. Check the broadcaster's listing if you want to watch the pre-game show. Times on this site follow the selected display zone, so read the zone label before comparing a Perth or New Zealand fixture with a Sydney-based television guide.

Live coverage, a full replay and a short highlights package are different viewing options. The match centre links available footage with its label. A video appearing after a game does not promise a full replay, and replay availability can differ between services. For a completed game, use results to find its match centre and check the videos that have actually been published.

Preseason and Finals Need Their Own Check

A regular-season viewing arrangement should not be applied blindly to every basketball event. Club warm-ups, the Blitz and Finals can have specific announcements. Read the event's current fixture and broadcaster notice, particularly when following an old search result. A page discussing NBL26 coverage belongs to the earlier season; its channel names should not replace the verified NBL27 information above.

WNBL and NBL1 also have their own competitions and viewing arrangements. Do not interpret a WNBL statement about every game being free as an NBL promise. This guide and its fixture cards are for the Australian men's NBL. If watching is not possible, open the match centre for available results and statistics, remembering that scores on this site are not a live second-by-second service.

Watching NBL FAQs

Can I watch NBL games free in Australia?

Yes. NBL27 has Nine and 9Now coverage. Check the confirmed free-game list for the specific television or streaming option attached to each fixture.

Is every NBL game on Disney+?

The official NBL27 and Disney guides describe every game through ESPN on Disney+. Confirm your current access, account and device with the provider.

Is a 9Now listing the same as a 9Go! television listing?

No. One identifies streaming and the other a television channel. Look for the option you intend to use on the individual match.

Does a highlights link provide a live stream?

No. Highlights are selected footage, usually available after play. Use the listed live broadcaster for the game and the video labels for completed-game footage.
