A South Australian route through college

Huefner grew up in Adelaide before playing college basketball at Pittsburg State and Sam Houston. His final Sam Houston season combined frontcourt rebounding with an outside shooting threat, a useful background for understanding his role as a forward.

Returning to South Australia brought another important step. He joined the West Adelaide Bearcats in 2025 and helped them win the NBL1 Central championship.

Finals recognition before Perth

Huefner was named Grand Final MVP in that West Adelaide title campaign before beginning his NBL career as a Perth development player. His state-league success therefore preceded his opportunity with the Wildcats.

His NBL minutes can be much more limited than the role he held with the Bearcats. Read the minutes column alongside shooting and rebounding, and keep NBL1 achievements separate from the NBL totals. His college and championship background explains the pathway without turning a small number of appearances into a full-season projection.
