Planning an Adelaide 36ers game

For a Sixers night out, start with the next home game rather than the next game overall. Adelaide may be travelling when you want to watch, and a ticket for an away fixture takes you to the opposition's venue. The home filter above narrows the list to games in which the 36ers are the designated hosts. Read the arena beside the date as well: a tournament fixture or a special event need not be at the team's usual court.

Adelaide Entertainment Centre and your seat

Adelaide Entertainment Centre is the main home court listed in the NBL's 36ers profile. Open the venue link above for visitor information, then use the official ticket seller's basketball seating map. A concert layout is not a reliable guide to a basketball seat. For your first visit, compare the view along the sideline with the view behind a basket, and check whether a package includes anything beyond admission.

If you are bringing children, compare the actual family-ticket conditions with individual seats before paying. The number of adults and children included, age categories and any booking charges belong to the particular offer. For a group, decide on the game and seating section together so that separate purchases do not leave everyone in different rows. An afternoon tip-off can suit a different itinerary from an evening game; the fixture list lets you choose without relying on an old promotional poster.

Sensory support and arrival planning

The club publishes a guide to its sensory spaces at Entertainment Centre home games. It describes both support during a visit and specific ticket arrangements. Read that guide before choosing seats if someone in your party needs a quieter space or additional assistance. Contact the club about individual access requirements; the availability of a room does not mean every ticket includes a dedicated sensory seat.

Allow time between arriving at the venue and being ready for tip-off. Ticket checks, finding the correct entrance and getting to your section all take place before the basketball starts. Keep the ticket seller's confirmation available on your phone, and check the event's visitor information for transport, accessible entry and permitted items. The time on the game card is the basketball start time, not a promise about when doors open.

Use the Adelaide clock

Choose Adelaide in the time-zone selector when planning a local visit. South Australia's half-hour offset makes a copied Sydney time particularly easy to misread. For road games, the selected display time tells you when to watch from home, while the venue's local time helps if you are travelling. A calendar subscription is useful for keeping both kinds of games together; confirm your calendar app's own time-zone settings after adding it.

Adelaide 36ers history: the name and the championship eras

  1. 1986First NBL championship
  2. 1998Second championship
  3. 1998-99Back-to-back titles across the calendar change
  4. 2001-02Fourth title season

Why 36ers, and why 1986 matters

The club's official history explains the name's reference to Adelaide's settlement in 1836. Its early story includes the Adelaide City Eagles and the eventual combination of South Australia's NBL teams. The 1986 side, coached by Ken Cole, went 24–2 in the regular season before defeating Brisbane for the championship. Mark Davis was one of the central players of that period. The team's celebrated nickname, the Invincibles, should not be read as a claim that it lost no games.

The Maher years and four title seasons

Brett Maher's long Adelaide career began in 1992 and made him a defining figure of the next era. The official history follows that period through the late-1990s success and the 2001–02 championship. His story and Davis's belong to different stages of the club, which makes them useful starting points for exploring older match reports rather than treating every Sixers championship as one continuous team.

The league records Adelaide's titles as 1986, 1998, 1998–99 and 2001–02. The consecutive 1998 and 1998–99 entries are intentional: the NBL moved from calendar-year competition to a summer season. When comparing old results, keep the full season label. A championship year, a regular-season finishing position and an individual player's award describe different achievements.

Following the Sixers beyond a home visit

Brisbane games have a particular place in Adelaide's early championship story. To find the next meeting, scan the opponent names in the upcoming list and open the match centre for its location. For current form, use the completed view and the season record together: a preseason win is useful context but does not add to the regular-season ladder. Player averages are another perspective, with games played alongside them so a small sample is visible.

If your main aim is watching from South Australia, use the Australian viewing guide and the channels attached to the individual fixture. Do not assume that a home game, a weekend game or a televised game is free. Keep the team calendar for Sixers home and away dates; use the Adelaide city fixture when your priority is attending basketball in Adelaide.

Adelaide 36ers fan questions

Where do the 36ers play their home games?

The main home court is Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Check each fixture for its actual venue, especially when choosing a tournament or preseason game.

Is the next Sixers game in Adelaide?

Not necessarily. Compare the Next game and Next home game cards, then check the city shown. A home designation alone is not a travel address.

Why are they called the 36ers?

The name refers to 1836, the year associated with Adelaide's settlement. Sixers is the familiar shortened form used for the same club.

Were 1998 and 1998–99 separate championships?

Yes. They are separate seasons across the NBL's move to a summer calendar. Both appear in Adelaide's official championship list.

How can I arrange a sensory-friendly visit?

Start with the club's sensory-space guide linked above and contact its ticketing team about your needs before purchasing. Check the arrangements for your selected game.

Will a downloaded Sixers calendar change when a game moves?

An imported ICS file is a snapshot. Use the subscription setup for a calendar that can receive later changes when your app refreshes it.
